My gf and I go here often. Been coming for the past 3 years but the prices have gradually gone up but I think that's normal due to cost of living. But regardless the food is great

Solid spot for Vietnamese in Alameda. It doesn't have frills, the interior feels more homey than trendy, but it's family owned and that's a plus for me. The food was solid, would come back to try other things on the menu.

The staff here are so dedicated and attentive. (Imo, they're as attentive as waiters in Michelin-starred restaurants, if not more...) Clearly a small family business, you can tell they put their heart and soul into the food. Speaking of the food, the food is SO good. Pho and buns really hit the spot when you're craving Vietnamese food but don't feel like leaving the island. (In fact, it's now our family's go-to Vietnamese spot for dinner so we don't need to worry about crime in Oakland at night.) Their bahn mis are a bit on the bready side, which I REALLY like but some people might not. My guess is that they don't scoop out the center of the roll; eh, more food for me! They are generous with the sandwich fillings (especially the veggies, which a lot of places skimp out on). It's a bit unusual that their bahn mis are served hot, but I can see that being great on a cold winter day. My only regret is not discovering them earlier; I could have been eating here for years... Alas!

Quality/Quantity - Small local family run business. #4 BI CUON (2 Rolls); shredded pork rolls - Fresh and done well. My daughter would have preferred the peanut sauce (the sauce that the shrimp fresh rolls usually comes with) rather than the fish sauce we got. #20 BUN RIEU; tomato soup with pasted shrimp, pork rib, tofu & vermicelli noodles - My wife said it was just okay. I tasted it also and could have used more seasoning. # 33. BUN THIT NUONG, CHA GIO; vermicelli with grilled pork & egg rolls - Probably the best dish of the 3. And with generous portions. My daughter brought half of this home. Whereas both my wife and I finished our entrees (remember we are light eaters). #59 COM TAM SUON, CHA, TAU HU KY; broken rice with pork chop, egg cake & shrimp cake - My dish and it was good. I have had better though. The rice could have had more "seasoning," and the pork chop had some very burnt pieces to it, but this is normal for a hot grilled item. And I have had some amazing shrimp cakes in the past. Maybe a little unfair to judge, but I compared them to others...? Atmosphere - This replaced a few businesses but the decor is still left from the Little Caesars that used to be here. The tile work, counter and even hood were a blast from the past. Not sure if the AC was broken, but that small front door fan blowing back and forth was a distraction. I am glad the owner moved it slightly away, but I was still not comfortable while trying to eat. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm, closed Thursdays. Plenty of mall parking. Service - 5 stars, both the wife and husband team were good. Very attentive. Price - $70 + tip; expensive for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2006. Wow, has it been that long since the LC left this plaza?

Great local Vietnamese shop to get your noodle fix in! My husband ordered the Mi Bo Kho and I ordered the Phở Tái Bo Vien. The broth of the Mi Bo Kho was a bit sweet in our opinion, but the noodles were cooked well and plenty of beef. I wish there were more noodles in my Phở Tái Bo Vien, but there was still ample broth and meat. The service was very kind! We came in 30 minutes before they closed, and they treated us with kindness and did not rush us.

First time coming here and omg this place is delicious. No need to add extra sauces in the broth soup! I think I found my new pho spot in Alameda after all these years!!! I can't say more this place hits the spot! I gotta check out this bill tho, they probably charging me heck for the extras I added on top of my regular soup order....

It's a cold December day so I craved a hot bowl of soup! Rang Dong restaurant is a Vietnamese restaurant on Alameda. I decided to try out this place as the yelpers raved about it! Yes, Rang Dong restaurant met my expectations and my dining experience here was great! The best part is the restaurant was open between lunch and dinner time. Getting a table and be seated around 3pm were awesome! We ordered the fried spring rolls and the bun rieu, which is the crab noodle soup. It served hot and tasty with all the fresh vegetables! The restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. The servers are nice and friendly. Our iced Vietnamese coffee came soon after but I was a bit disappointed that it was prepared earlier and was not dripping at our table. Overall, everything is awesome! Highly recommend it if you are craving for authentic Vietnamese meal!

Date: 9/17/2023 Time: 2:00 PM 68° Sunny I have always wanted to stop in to dine here for lunch. This location used to be Pho Baguette. However, I have been to the original Rang Dong in Oakland Chinatown on Webster Street a few times with my sister several years ago. Unfortunately, that restaurant and other businesses caught on fire. One of my friends asked me for a recommendation for a bowl of pho here in town. Without even dining here, I recommended Rang Dong based on my experience at the one in Oakland Chinatown. The employees are pleasant and helpful. It didn't take me long to decide what I wanted for lunch. Oh, how I miss their #33, bun vermicelli with grilled pork and egg rolls. It is still delicious and indeed very scrumptious. Service is quick, which is great. The hostess is gracious. The place is clean, and it is casual, comfy and relaxing with gentle music playing over their sound system. Future visits? Yes, and it is within walking distance from home.
